EcoMet is the hotel's environment programme. It reads the five elements of the Vedas against modern building science, and it has been running far longer than the word sustainability has been fashionable.

Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.

The Ecological Philosophy of The Metropolitan Hotel & Spa, drawn from both ancient Indian Vedic science and the modern kind. Its object is a working balance between what a hotel of this size consumes and what nature can provide, pursued through three R's rather than a slogan.

How it works

The Three R's

Every policy under EcoMet has to answer to one of these three. If it answers to none of them it is decoration, not policy.

Reduce

Take less in the first place, energy, water, packaging and the paper a full-service hotel generates without noticing.

Reuse

Keep what has already been made in service, from linen and glass to the fittings a refurbishment would otherwise skip.

Recycle

Segregate and return what is left, so waste leaves the building as material rather than as landfill.

Certify

EcoMet is certified to ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management systems.

In the guest rooms The bathroom amenities in every category are neoVeda's own, made for the spa and sold at Craft House rather than bought in by the case. Housekeeping works to a linen-reuse programme; tell the floor if you would rather it did not apply to you.
